Hair Maintenance

Maintaining your hair is the key to protecting the quality of your bundles or wigs. Our hair is quality hair and an investment and we like to ensure that you understand the best ways to look after your hair. Both virgin and raw hair require proper maintenance to ensure that they can last you for years to come.

Below are our step-by-step tips to help guide you with the best recommendations for taking care of your hair. If you have any questions, feel free to send us an email at contact@novushair.co.uk where we can answer specific questions.

1. Detangle
When brushing, combing or detangling your hair it is important to be gentle when doing so. We advise for detangling, please use a wide tooth comb starting from the ends to avoid unnecessary breakage.

2. Sulfate-Free Products
To protect your hair, we recommend you opt for sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to keep your hair clean and moisturised. These products help maintain the natural shine and softness of your extensions.

We recommend using products from any of the following brands, Keracare, Redken, Kerastase, Wella, OLAPLEX, Schwarzkopf and L'Oreal Professionals.

3. Moisturise Regularly
Just like your natural hair, it is important to keep your hair extensions hydrated by regularly using a moisturising conditioner, hair masks and deep conditioning treatments. Your hair extensions are no longer attached to the donor, therefore it is receiving no natural oils - so it is important we add this in. We recommend deep conditioning treatments should be done bases on the frequency of wear and how dry your hair may feel. This helps prevent dryness and maintains the overall health of your extensions.

We recommend using products from any of the following brands, Keracare, SheaMoisture, OLAPLEX, TRESemme, L'Oreal Professionals, K18, MoroccanOil, Redken, Schwarzkopf, Wella and Aussie.

4. Correct Installation and Colouring
When installing your hair extensions and lace closures or frontals, it is important that they are installed correctly to minimise any unnecessary stress to the lace. If you are unsure how to install your hair please seek out a reputable hairstylist or email us at contact@novushair.co.uk where we can advise you further.

Colouring hair is a science and can be hard to achieve a desired look. Bleaching causes damage to hair, therefore we stress that when choosing to colour your hair it is done by a professional who knows how to colour without compromising the quality of your hair. Please note that our hair can be lifted to a level 10 blonde (lightest blonde) also known as 613. Any form or bleaching can compromise your hair.

5. Limit Heat Styling
To prolong the life of your extensions, we recommend you limit the use of heat styling tools, as excessive heat can lead to damage. All our hair can be heat styled and we recommend you use heat protectant every time you heat style.

We recommend using products from any of the following brands, Keracare, CHI, OLAPLEX, Schwarzkopf, Kerastase, Redken, ColourWow, MoroccanOil, Amika and Wella.

6. Night-time Care

We recommend you wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf at night to prevent friction and reduce the risk of tangling or frizz. This also helps to maintain your styles. We also provide satin storage bags with every order for you to store you hair in at anytime. You can also purchase more satin storage bags on our website.
